[Opens April 10 in Virtual Cinema sponsored by MSP Film Society; for more information, log on to mspfilm.org.] Actress Clare Coulter narrates Brett Story's unfocused, disconnected, quirky, slow-paced, 95-minute, 2019 documentary that consists of readings from Zadie Smith, Karl Marx, and Annie Dillard and meandering interviews with an eclectic group of various random New Yorkers, such as a Zumba instructor, bus driver, bar patrons, a Projects-residing African-American teenager, a working class couple, retired cops, hurricane Sandy survivors, Black Lives Matter rally participants, and a college student, from Brooklyn, Manhattan, Queens, the Bronx, and Staten Island talking about their everyday lives and climate, social/economic, and demographic changes that they have recently observed and their trepidation about what the future will bring for them and their children during August 2017, which was marked by financial stress, political upheavals, racial tension, and floods, hurricanes, and wildfires exacerbated by global warming.
