Kid Like Jake, A

While a Brooklyn psychologist (Jim Parsons) counsels his patients (Amy Landecker, et al.) about their everyday problems and his on-leaver lawyer wife (Claire Danes) cares for their four-year-old son (Leo James Davis) who struggles with his gender identity in this timely, poignant, thought-provoking, star-dotted (Octavia Spencer, Ann Dowd, and Priyanka Chopra) 92-minute film adapted from Daniel Pearle's play, the couple becomes increasingly frustrated as they compete with other parents to get their gender-questioning child accepted into a prestigious kindergarten.
