Beirut

After an American diplomat and negotiator (Jon Hamm) loses his wife (Leïla Bekhti) during a raid on his home by Muslim terrorists in 1972 in Beirut during the Lebanon Civil War in this dark, intriguing, multifacted, well-acted, factually inspired, star-studded (Rosamund Pike, Dean Norris, Shea Whigham, Larry Pine, Alon Aboutboul, and Douglas Hodge), 109-minute political thriller, he reluctantly leaves New England and returns to Lebanon ten years later to negotiate the release of a friend (Mark Pellegrino) who is being held hostage by terrorists (Idir Chender, Ben Affan, et al.).
