Downsizing

A disappointing, loophole-filled, disconnected, well-acted, star-studded (Jason Sudeikis, Neil Patrick Harris, Laura Dern, James Van Der Beek, Margo Martindale, Udo Kier, Mary Kay Place, Tim Driscoll, Niecy Nash, Don Lake, and Kristen Thomson), futuristic, 115-minute, sci-fi satire that cannot decide whether it's a comedy or a drama and highlighted by striking cinematography in which a disillusioned, bored occupational therapist (Matt Damon) in Omaha decides to undergo a phenomenal, irreversible downsizing procedure developed by a Norwegian bio-scientist (Rolf Lassgård) to shrink to 5" tall along with his wife (Kristen Wiig) to help save the planet from overpopulation and climate change and so that their middle-class income would allow them to live a much more lavish lifestyle, but the plan goes awry and changes direction when he ends up divorced and meets his overzealous upstairs neighbor (Christopher Waltz) and his outspoken, disabled cleaning lady (Hong Chau).
