Man Who Invented Christmas, The

Wonderful period sets and costumes highlight this creative, well-acted, star-dotted (Jonathan Pryce, Simon Callow, and Miriam Margolyes), 104-minute film based on Les Standiford's novel and dominated by terrific cinematography that imagines the struggles that legendary, nearly broke British novelist Charles Dickens (Dan Stevens), who lives with his wife (Morfydd Clark) and children in London, goes through while suffering from writer's block trying to write his next novel in 1843 after his last three books were financial flops and begins to visualize the colorful characters, including Ebenezer Scrooge (Christopher Plummer) and Jacob Marley (Donald Sumpter), from his classic A Christmas Carol.
