After growing up in a chaotic household with her parents (Julianne Nicholson and Chris Zylka) constantly bickering in this superbly acted, captivating, insightful, 123-minute film, a teenager (Margaret Qualley) decides to enter the Sisters of Blessed Rose convent in the 1960s in Tennessee where she struggles with her faith, commitment, and budding sexuality as she trains with other postulates (Dianne Agron, Liana Liberato, Ashley Bell, Morgan Saylor, et al.) under the strict guidance of Reverend Mother (Melissa Leo) who is struggling herself with the changes to the Catholic Church as set forth in Vatican II.
