Foreigner, The

After his only teenage daughter is killed in a bombing in London supposedly orchestrated by the politically-driven IRA in this suspenseful, intense, well-written, entertaining, action-packed, superbly acted, humor-dotted, unpredictable, 114-minute thriller based on Stephen Leather's novel The Chinaman and highlighted by terrific martial arts choreography, a distraught, tenacious, revenge-fueled, widowed Vietnamese restaurant owner (Jackie Chan) heads to Belfast to confront the adulterous first deputy minister (Pierce Brosnan), who has a duplicitous wife (Orla Brady), to force him to reveal the names of the Irish terrorists (Charlie Murphy, Niall McNamee, et al.) responsible for his daughter's tragic death and goes to great lengths to discover the truth.
