Moonlight

Terrific acting dominates this Oscar-winning, poignant, moving, gritty, well-written, 110-minute film that follows the hard childhood life of a lonely African-American boy (Alex R. Hibbert) of few words, who grows up with his drug-addicted mother (Naomi Harris) in Miami in the 1980s and turns to a drug dealer (Mahershala Ali) and his girlfriend (Janelle Monáe) for support, to his bullied years as a troubled teenager (Ashton Sanders) as he tries to understand his sexuality, to his years as a lonely adult (Trevante Rhodes) in Atlanta, who eventually reaches out to his former best friend (Jharrel Jerome/André Holland).
