Tale of Tales

A dark, creative, wacky, 94-minute, 2015 film inspired by Giambattista Basile's fairytales that intertwines three stories: In The Enchanted Doe, an obsessed queen (Salma Hayek) sacrifices her husband (John C. Reilly) to become pregnant and then sixteen years later overprotects and smothers her albino son (Christian Lees) and becomes increasingly jealous of his friendship with a look-a-like teenager (Jonah Lees); in The Flea, a weird, widowed king (Toby Jones) nurtures a flea into a giant pet and then under odd circumstances marries off his only daughter (Bebe Cave) to an ogre (Guillaume Delaunay); and in The Flayed Old Lady, a horny king (Vincent Cassel) becomes fascinated with a mysterious songstress (Hayley Carmichael) who lives with her sister (Shirley Henderson), but when their rendezvous does not go as planned, he later ends up meeting a gorgeous, redheaded with a dark secret while hunting in the woods.
