Girl in the River, A: The Price of Forgiveness

[HBO only] An excellent, disturbing, educational, Oscar-winning, 45-minute, 2015 documentary short that tells the story of 18-year-old Pakistan woman Saba who married the man (Qaiser) she loves in Punjab only to be shot in the face and dumped in the river in a sack by her father Maqsood and uncle Muhamm in an alleged honor killing for marrying a fiancé not approved by her family and then shockingly is encouraged (aka forced), to the horror of the criminal investigator Ali Akbar, by her attorney Waqas Bhatti, her mother Maqsooda, her sister Aqsa, her in-laws (Rehmatay, et al.), and neighborhood tribal elders to forgive her attackers so that they are released from jail and then can continue to live honorably.
