Joy

Terrific acting dominates this factually inspired, offbeat, down-to-earth, star-dotted (Bradley Cooper, Isabella Rossellini, Elizabeth Röhm, Melissa Rivers, and Donna Mills), love-it-or-hate-it,124-minute comedic drama based on Paolo Sorrentino's novel Joy in which no-nonsense, strong-willed, tenacious airline ticket counter clerk turned inventor Joy Mangano (Jennifer Lawrence), who has her three children, divorced parents (Robert DeNiro and Virginia Madsen), ex-husband (Édgar Ramírez), and grandmother (Diane Ladd) living with her in Long Island, New York, struggles to deal with her dysfunctional family while trying to launch a startup business in her father's auto shop after designing the Miracle Mop.
