In the Heart of the Sea

Uneven pacing hinders this intense, well-acted, factually based, 3D, 121-minute, Ron Howard film in which the last survivor (Brendan Gleeson) of the whaling ship the Essex reluctantly gives an account to novelist Herman Melville (Ben Whishaw) that inspired the Moby Dick classic of the horrific, grueling ordeal of Captain George Pollard (Benjamin Walker), first his mate (Chris Hemsworth), and the crew (Cillian Murphy, Tom Holland, Paul Anderson, et al.) after they left Nantucket in the winter of 1820 and desperately trying to survive when they found their ship relentlessly attacked by a gigantic, revenge-fueled whale.
