Bridge of Spies

An Oscar-worthy, factually inspired, engaging, well-acted, well-paced, thought-provoking, 135-minute, Spielberg/Coen film in which ethical Brooklyn attorney James B. Donovan (Tom Hanks), who has a wife (Amy Ryan) and three children (Eve Hewson, Jillian Lebling, and Noah Schnapp), is encouraged by his law partner (Alan Alda) and the FBI to represent Rudolf Abel (Mark Rylance) who was arrested for allegedly selling American secrets to the Soviets in 1957 and then was later pressured by the CIA to negotiate in East Berlin the possible exchange of imprisoned Rudolf Abel during the Cold War for American pilot Francis Gary Powers (Austin Stowell) who was held by the Russians after being shot down taking photographs in a high-tech plane over Soviet airspace.
