Wild Tales

An Oscar-nominated, hilarious, creative, well-acted, wonderfully wacky, 122-minute, 2014, Argentinean black comedy that consists of six colorful vignettes of revenge and losing control: 1) A disgruntled, angry musician sends plane tickets to numerous people (Darío Grandinetti, Maria Marull, Mónica Villa, et al.) who have wronged him during his lifetime and then locks the cockpit door and sends the plane into a nose dive; 2) when a waitress (Julieta Zylberbergg) realizes that her late-night customer (César Bordón) is a gangster who caused her father to commit suicide and then hit on her widowed mother two weeks later, the no-nonsense cook (Rita Cortese) at a small cafe offers to sprinkle his food with rat poison; 3) a hellish, down-and-dirty fight breaks out between two highly frustrated motorists (Leonardo Sbaraglia and Walter Donado) who have insulted each other while driving along an isolated road and then escalates way out of control when neither one would back down; 4) after the car of a highly respected demolition engineer (Ricardo Darín) is wrongly towed, which causes him to miss his daughter's birthday and angers his wife (Nancy Dupláa), and no one at the towing company or the DMV will listen to his valid complaint, his escalating temper eventually triggers his arrest, the loss of his job, a bittersweet divorce, losing custody of his daughter in a court hearing, and his delicious retaliation; 5) after his reckless, distraught son (Germán de Silva) kills a pregnant woman during a hit-and-run car accident while driving intoxicated, his wealthy father (Oscar Martínez) tries to pay his poor groundskeeper to take the blame, but negotiations spiral out of control and break down when everyone involved gets greedy; and 6) a bride (Erica Rivas) goes ballistic at her wedding reception when she learns that her new husband (Diego Gentile) has cheated on her with a guest and then seeks her revenge with an unsuspecting hotel employee.
