Gone Girl

Excellent acting dominates this clever, well-written, twist-filled, thought-provoking, well-paced, star-dotted (Neil Patrick Harris, Sela Ward, Missi Pyle, Scoot McNairy, Boyd Holbrook, David Clennon, and Lisa Banes), 145-minute thriller based on Gillian Flynn's 2012 bestselling novel in which a Missouri bar owner (Ben Affleck) ends up hiring a prominent defense attorney (Tyler Perry) when he is arrested for the suspected murder of his famous writer wife (Rosamund Pike) after she goes missing on their wedding anniversary and tenacious detectives (Kim Dickens and Patrick Fugit) begin finding highly incriminating evidence, including an affair with a sexy student (Emily Ratajkowski) when he was a creative writing professor and a shed of goodies on the property of his fraternal twin sister (Carrie Coon).
