Bad Words

After an immature, foul-mouthed, 40-year-old man (Jason Bateman), who has unknown ulterior motives and is sponsored by a reporter (Kathryn Hahn), wins the Ohio regional spelling bee and goes on to be an unlikely contestant in the national Golden Quill spelling bee in Los Angeles due to a loophole in the bylaws in this off-the-wall, intermittently funny, 88-minute comedy, he reluctantly accepts the friendship of a smart, 9-year-old kid (Rohan Chand) and incites the anger of the student participants, their parents, the director (Allison Janney), the president (Philip Baker Hall), and the announcer (Ben Falcone).
