Sapphires, The

An entertaining, engaging, factually inspired, 100-minute, 2012 film, which is adapted from Tony Briggs' play, in which a piano-playing talent scout (Chris O'Dowd) discovers three, tenacious, light-skinned, country western Aboriginal singers (Deborah Mailman, Jessica Mauboy, and Miranda Tapsell) at a small-time Australian singing contest in 1958, and together with their talented cousin (Shari Sebbens) form the soul group The Sapphires that ended up performing all over Vietnam for American troops.
