Striking cinematography highlights this engaging, low-key, heart-wrenching, 100-minute, 2010 film, which is based on Judy Pascoe's novel Our Father Who Art in the Tree and is the sequel to Since Otar Left, in which a grieving widow (Charlotte Gainsbourg) must quickly cope with the unexpected death of her beloved husband (Aden Young) while raising four children (Morgana Davies, Christian Byers, Tom Russell, and Gabriel Gotting) in rural northern Australia, find a job that results in working as a bookkeeper for a plumbing shop owner (Marton Csokas), and then discovers that her eight-year-old daughter believes that her father's spirit resides in a gargantuan Morton Bay fig tree that looms over their modest home, which initially gives them all comfort but eventually the insidious roots threaten the house.
