Late Quartet, A

A somber, touching, well-acted, cameo-dotted (Shawn Wallace and Madhur Jaffrey), 105-minute, 2012 drama that centers around Beethoven's Opus 131 String Quartet in C-sharp minor and the complicated, 25-year relationship among a fatherly, widowed, Parkinson's-afflicted cellist (Christopher Walken) and a perfectionistic, bow-making violinist (Mark Ivanir) who falls for the headstrong, musician daughter (Imogen Poots) of the troubled, married second violinist (Philip Seymour Hoffman), who jeopardized his marriage when he sleeps with a flamenco dancer (Liraz Charhi), and a violist (Catherine Keener) who make up the prominent, world-famous Fugue string quartet in New York City.
