Mud A captivating, touching, down-to-earth, realistic, 135-minute film in which a 14-year-old boy (Tye Sheridan), who lives in Arkansas with his unhappy parents (Sarah Paulson and Ray McKinnon) and has fallen for an older student (Bonnie Sturdivant), and his orphaned best friend (Jacob Lofland), who lives with his uncle (Michael Shannon), befriend a down-on-his-luck fugitive (Matthew McConaughey) who is hiding out on an island in the Mississippi River from the law, bounty hunters, and a vengeful father (Joe Don Baker) and his hotheaded, gun-wielding son (Paul Sparks) and is desperately trying to reconnect with his abused lover (Reese Witherspoon).
