Promised Land A thought-provoking, captivating, well-acted Gus Van Sant film in which two Pennsylvania natural gas company salespeople (Matt Damon and Frances McDormand) have a challenge on their hands when they must contend with an alleged environmentalist (John Krasinski) as they try to convince skeptical landowners (Hal Holbrook, Rosemarie Dewitt, Tom Guinee, Lucas Black, et al.) in a small, economically repressed farming community to sign controversial, fine-print fracking agreements to allow drilling for gas on their property.
