Cloud Atlas An incomprehensible, multilayered, disappointing, albeit beautifully photographed 164-minute film, which is based on David Mitchell's bestselling novel Cloud Atlas, that follows a stellar cast, including Tom Hanks, Halle Berry, Jim Broadbent, Susan Sarandon, Hugh Grant, Hugo Weaving, Keith David, James D' Arcy, Ben Whishaw, Jim Sturgess, and Xun Zhou, as they embody various characters in six disconnected storylines that climax in reverse chronological order and focus on religious, romantic, political, and creative freedom and fighting against repression while crossing various timelines and locations from 1849 in the Pacific Islands, 1936 in Cambridge, 1973 in San Francisco, 2012 in London, 2144 in the Korean city of Neo Seoul, to 106 years after the "fall" on an unknown planet.
