Lawless Superb acting and terrific cinematography highlight this suspenseful, violent, factually based, star-dotted (Gary Oldman, Jessica Chastain, Mia Wasikowska and Noah Taylor) film based on Sherwood Anderson's novel The Wettest County in the World about the three bootlegging Bondurant brothers (Tom Hardy, Shia LaBeouf, and Jason Clarke) in Franklin, Va., who go up against a sleazy, ruthless special deputy (Guy Pearce) from Chicago and his thugs (Bill Camp, et al.) in 1931 when he threatens to shut down their moonshining operation unless he receives a financial kickback.
