Killer Joe

A foolhardy scheme to collect $50,000 in insurance money does not go as planned in this riveting, graphically violent, intense, well-acted, twisting, 102-minute, 2011 film when a gambling-addicted Texan (Emile Hirsch) involves his dimwitted father (Thomas Haden Church), his adulterous stepmother (Gina Gershon), and his mentally impaired sister (Juno Temple) in the hiring of a cold-blooded, dead-eyed, Dallas detective (Matthew McConaughey) to kill his mother (Julia Adams).
