Woman in the Fifth, The

After a divorced American professor and novelist (Ethan Hawke) has his belonging stolen on a bus upon relocating to Paris to reconnect with his estranged, 6-year-old daughter (Julie Papillon), who lives with his angry ex-wife (Delphine Chuillot), and a café owner (Samir Guesmi) offers him a room and a job in this somber, unusual, unexpected, 84-minute film, adapted from Douglas Kennedy's novel, his life is further turned upside down when he begins relationships with a mysterious, widowed French translator (Kristen Scott Thomas) and a comely Polish waitress (Joanna Kulig).
