Rock of Ages While a beautiful, tenacious Oklahoma singer (Julianne Hough) tries to make her mark in Hollywood and finds love with a shy, rock ‘n' roll singer/songwriter (Diego Boneta) in 1987 in this campy, hokey, entertaining, over-the-top, star-studded (Paul Giamatti, Malin Akerman, Mary J. Blige, Will Forte, T. J. Miller, and Russell Brand) musical, a frustrated and nearly broke club owner (Alec Baldwin) tries to save his business by inviting an aging, boozing, cavorting rocker (Tom Cruise) to perform at his club as the vindictive, prim wife (Catherine Zeta-Jones) of the adulterous Los Angeles mayor (Bryan Cranston) tries to shutdown his establishment.
