Trial, The

A satisfying, 2010, courtroom drama that plays more like a made-for-television film, which is adapted from Robert Whitelow's bestselling book, in which a grief-stricken, guilt-ridden, suicidal, widowed attorney (Matthew Modine) is forced out of retirement by a small-town judge (Rance Howard) to defend an ex-Marine (Randy Wayne) in Georgia after he is accused of strangling his girlfriend (Kera O'Byron) and gets help from his brother-in-law investigator (Robert Forster), his former assistant (Nikki Deloach), and a psychiatrist (Clare Carey) when he goes up against a highly successful prosecutor (Bob Gunton).
