Pirates, The! The Band of Misfits When a pirate captain (voiceover by Hugh Grant) desperately wants to best his rivals (voiceovers by Salma Hayek and Jeremy Piven) with the help of his eclectic crew (voiceovers by Brendan Gleeson, Ashley Jensen, Al Roker, Anton Yelchin, Martin Freeman, et al.) to win the Pirate of the Year Award in 1837 in this Oscar-nominated, wacky, family-friendly, funny, 3D, 88-minute claymation film, which is adapted from Gideon Defoe's 2004 book The Pirates! in an Adventure with Scientists: A Novel, he trades his prized "parrot" to Queen Victoria (voiceover by Imelda Staunton), who unfortunately has a secret agenda, after learning from Charles Darwin (voiceover by David Tennant) that his pet is actually a valuable and rare dodo bird.
