When a handsome, rebellious, adventurous, widowed, Civil War Army captain (Taylor Kitsch), who is searching for gold in the Arizona Territories in 1868, is magically teleported to the Red Planet in this 3D, special effects laden, imaginative, action-packed, fast-paced, star-studded (Bryan Cranston, Mark Strong, Jon Favreau, David Schwimmer, James Purefoy, Art Malik, and Aldred Westley Montoya), sci-fi film, which is based on Edgar Rice Burroughs' story and adapted from the book A Princess of Mars, he is captured by a proud tribe of 12-foot, four-armed aliens (Willem Dafoe, Thomas Haden Church, Samantha Morton, Daryl Sabara, Polly Walker, et al.) and ends up fighting for the dark-haired, sword-wielding Mars princess (Lynn Collins) after her father (CiarĂ¡n Hinds) arranges her marriage to a power-hungry rival (Dominic West) who threatens to decimate their city during a long-running war.
