Crusaders After his father (Armin Mueller-Stahl) and the one-armed baron (Dieter Kirchlechner) are murdered and the woman (Karin Proia) he loves says that she will marry a power-hungry lord (Rodolfo Corsato) to save her family in 1079 A.D. in this action-packed, violent, factually inspired, 200-minute, 2001 film, an adopted, grieving blacksmith (Alessandro Gassman) leaves with his sheepherder best friend (Thure Riefenstein) and a Norman nobleman (Johannes Brandrup) to fight in the Crusades in Jerusalem where discord ensues when the two best friends end up fighting on different sides and a comely Jewish scholar (Barbora Bobulova) stands in the middle.
