Last Train Home

An insightful, intriguing, verité style 2009 documentary by Chinese-Canadian filmmaker Lixin Fan that follows the arduous annual journey of garment factory workers Changhua Zhang and Suqin Chen in the Spring of 2006 as they struggle to acquire train tickets along with another 130 million Chinese to travel by train, boat, and bus during the New Year's holiday to see their estranged children, unhappy daughter Qin who would rather work than attend school and younger son Yang, who are being dutifully raised by their widowed grandmother.
