Soloist, The

Slow pacing detracts from this otherwise heartwarming, well-acted, factually based film in which popular, divorced journalist Steve Lopez (Robert Downey Jr.), who is dealing with his own demons, befriends musically gifted, cello-playing, schizophrenia-plagued, Julliard dropout Nathaniel Ayers, Jr. (Jamie Foxx) who is living on the streets and shares his sad, inspiring story with readers of the Los Angeles Times.
