Hounddog

A controversial, unimaginative, symbolism-heavy film in which a gifted, wide-eyed, tomboyish, twelve-year-old girl (Dakota Fanning) in Alabama tries to find solace in flighty childhood friends (Cody Hanford and Isabelle Fuhrman) and a caring African-American horse trainer (Afemo Omilasmi) and singing the songs of her idol Elvis Presley (Ryan Pelton) to escape growing up with her dysfunctional, abusive, alcoholic father (David Morse), who has taken up with a new slip-sporting girlfriend (Robin Wright Penn), and her strict, God-fearing grandmother (Piper Laurie) during the 1950s.
