My Brother Is an Only Child

An engaging, poignant, well-acted Italian film in which an idealistic bully (Vittorio Emanuele Propizio) makes trouble and creates headaches for his older handsome brother (Riccardo Scamarcio), his working-class parents (Angela Finocchiaro and Massino Popolizio), and his musically gifted sister (Alba Rohrwacher) when he joins the Fascist party during the turbulent 1960s in Italy with the coercion and support of a tablecloth peddler (Luca Zingaretti) and his wife (Anna Bonaiuto) and then as a rebellious adult (Elio Germano) he eventually falls in love with the same gorgeous French woman (Diane Fleri) as his radical brother who has become increasingly involved with a dangerous political faction during the 1970s.
