Honeydripper

Well-rounded characters dominate this well-written, superbly acted, star-studded (Mary Steenburgen, Lisa Gay Hamilton, Sean Patrick Thomas, Yaya DaCosta, et al.) film about a desperate, piano-playing, small-town lounge owner (Danny Glover) and his partner (Charles S. Dutton) in 1950s Alabama who make a deal with the chicken-loving, racist sheriff (Stacey Keach) to bail out an electric guitar player (Gary Clark, Jr.) in order to hire him for the weekend in the hopes of saving their joint by luring customers from their rival and paying back monies owed to their greedy landlord and the local booze peddler.
