Winter Passing

After a book editor (Amy Madigan) offers $100,000 for love letters written by her reclusive, whiskey-swigging, novelist father (Ed Harris) to her mother who recently committed suicide in this quirky, melancholy 2005 film, a cocaine-snorting, bartending actress (Zooey Deschanel) in New York City goes home to Michigan to look for the letters and to visit her estranged, mentally fragile father only to find that a former graduate student (Amelia Warner) and a stage-frightened musician (Will Ferrell) have set up residence in her book-filled childhood home.
