Final Season, The

While Iowa bank teller Kent Stock (Sean Astin) takes over as head coach for the Norway high school baseball team (Bret Claywell, et al.) in 1991 after longtime, legendary coach Jim Van Scoyoc (Powers Booth), who led the Midwestern team to 19 consecutive state championships, is fired by the school board when a school merger is announced in this inspirational, entertaining, factually based film, a widowed Chicago real estate agent (Tom Arnold) tries to get his rebellious son (Michael Angarano) back on the right track by bringing him to live with his parents (James Gammon and Angela Paton) on their Iowa farm.
