Becoming Jane Beautiful scenery and a superb cast highlight this unfortunately slow-paced, lackluster, 2-hour, 2007 romantic biography of British novelist Jane Austen (Anne Hathaway) who falls in love with a poor, womanizing Irish lawyer (James McAvoy) in the late 1700s while her concerned parents (James Cromwell and Julie Walters) compel her to accept the marriage proposal and financial security offered by the well-meaning nephew (Laurence Fox) of a snobby and pompous aristocrat (Maggie Smith).
