Rescue Dawn Werner Herzog directs this factually based, harrowing, 2-hour, 2006 account of the horrific and terrifying ordeal of tenacious American Naval fighter pilot Dieter Dengler (Christian Bale) when his plane is shot down in 1966 behind enemy lines during the Vietnam War, and he immediately begins to plot his escape after he is captured by notoriously dangerous Pathet Lao soldiers and held in a POW camp with other Americans (Steve Zahn and Jeremy Davis) in the dense Laotian jungle.
