August the First A well-acted, somber film in which a high school graduate (Ian Alsup) invites his estranged father (Dennis Ruben Green), who lives in Nigeria with his second family, to attend his graduation party, but emotions run high and tensions escalate when his inebriated wife (Joy Merriweather) who he never divorced, his secretive pregnant daughter (Kerisse Hutchinson), and his angry older son (Sean Phillips) learn of his ulterior motives.
