Gabrielle

Tension builds and implodes in this intense Ingmar Bergman-like French film based on Joseph Conrad's short story The Return as an unhappy French socialite (Isabelle Huppert) walks out of her predictable and passionless ten-year marriage to her boorish, emotionless, cold-as-ice husband (Pascal Greggory) in 1912 Paris only to return a few hours later to confront her surprised and humiliated husband about their stifling, pretentious, heartless lives.
