Great New Wonderful, The This intriguing and fascinating dark film gives a glimpse into the mundane and troubled lives of several New Yorkers one year post the horrors of 9/11, including an upscale and obsessed pastry diva (Maggie Gyllenhaal) trying to snag a prestigious account, a frustrated and alarmed couple (Judy Green and Thomas McCarthy) trying to cope with their very disturbed and antisocial son (Bill Donner), an incompetent and ultimately dangerous therapist (Tony Shalhoub) counseling an employee (Jim Gaffigan) after the death of several coworkers, a bored housewife (Olympia Dukakis) contemplating an affair with a former school mate, and two diametrically opposite security guards (Naseeruddin Shah and Sharat Sazena) passing time on the job while protecting a visiting New Delhi general.
