Celestine Prophecy, The When a laid-off history teacher (Matthew Settle) heads to Peru and gets involved with scholars (Thomas Kretschmann, Annabeth Gish, Sarah Wayne Callies, John Alyward, et al.) and two priests (Joaquim de Almeida and Castulo Guerra) who are translating mysterious ancient scrolls in this muddled religious film filled with meaningless rhetoric and mysticism, he ends up getting entangled with an unscrupulous cardinal (Hector Elizondo), a callous anthropologist (Jürgen Prochnow), and Lima police who are trying to prevent the prophecy from being revealed to the world.
