Drawing Restraint 9

Artist Matthew Barney of Cremaster fame presents a visually intriguing, but bizarre artistic mess in his nonsensical, snail-paced, anti-whaling film that is virtually void of dialogue and filled with strange scenes, including beautifully wrapped gift boxes, a procession of Japanese dancers, mysterious white-cloaked divers, a 25-ton vat of cooling petroleum jelly, and Björk and the artist wearing costumes inspired by Shinto marriage rites and partaking in an odd green tea ceremony on board a Japanese whaling ship in Nagasaki Bay.
