Mushroom Club, The

Steven Okazaki narrates his Oscar-nominated, 35-minute documentary that examines the long-term effects of the atomic bomb dropped on Hiroshima, Japan, on Aug. 6, 1945, by incorporating film footage and still photographs of the human casualties and the ruins of the city; by interviewing survivors of the blast, some of whom had babies afflicted with various physical and mental deformities, and they became known as members of the "mushroom club"; and by showing the various memorials, such as Peace Park, that the Japanese built to honor the victims and the way in which the Japanese people commemorate the 60th anniversary of the bombing.
