Freedomland A contrived plot, stereotypical dialogue, and unsympathetic characters hinder this plodding film in which racial tension and violence escalate in a New Jersey housing project when an asthmatic detective (Samuel L. Jackson) begins investigating the allegations by a listless and traumatized ex-junkie (Julianne Moore) that her car has been hijacked with her four-year-old son in the backseat.
