Shopgirl A lonely, disillusioned artist from Vermont (Claire Danes) working at Saks Fifth Avenue as a store clerk in Los Angeles selling gloves begins dating a gregarious, immature musician (Jason Schwartzman) she meets at a laundromat until she is wooed by a sophisticated older divorcee (Steve Martin) who showers her with expensive gifts but withholds his love as he becomes increasingly reluctant to commit to more than a cavalier relationship.
