North Country

An engaging, factually based drama about a Minnesota housewife (Charlize Theron) with two young children (Thomas Curtis and Elle Peterson) who leaves her abusive husband, temporarily moves in with her Iron Range parents (Sissy Spacek and Richard Jenkins), takes a decent-wage job at a taconite and steel plant that angers the crass male coalminers (Jeremy Renner, et al.), and then ends up hiring a lawyer (Woody Harrelson) to the initial chagrin of her female coworkers (Frances McDormand, Michelle Monaghan, Linda Emond, Rusty Schwimmer, et al.) and sues her boss (James Cada) for ignoring her claims of blatant sexual harassment that becomes a landmark class-action case in the late 1980s.
