Battle of Algiers, The The factually based, monochromatic, documentary-style 1967 Gillo Pontecorvo film about a French colonel (Jean Martin) in Algiers who leads paratroopers in an attempt to quell a highly emotionally charged revolution by irate, proud National Liberation Front Arab militants (Brahim Haggiag, Saadi Yacef, et al.) in the Casbah fighting for their independence from France during the late 1950s.
